YYY Records

YYY Records is an experimental record label in Perth, Australia that supports local artists who create unconventional new music.

The design highlighted the abstract and mysterious quality of the name ‘Y-Y-Y Records.’ It uses Egyptian hieroglyphics to convey the sound of the letter ‘Y,’ which is represented by the combining the glyphs of a bird and feather.

In an attempt to visually convey the auditory qualities of the record label, the logo is a fluid system that can alternate between conventional letterforms, english phonetic spelling and phonetic hieroglyphics.
